Social Media Tools and Web Strategies for Non-Profits

Here’s a cool idea for gift giving and supporting social good over the upcoming holidays…I love this!

What should you do for clients, customers, employees and Aunt Pearl this holiday?

I have the answer. The economy is tanking and people are hurting. You can be a hero, especially during these challenging times, by giving your clients, customers or employees (or your dotty aunt) the opportunity to give a little something back with a Good Card—a gift card for charity. You can purchase the card in any dollar amount (up to $250) and it allows the recipient to give to the charity of their choice; any charity – they choose can choose from more than 1.2 million. Whether you send it via e-mail or mail, you can customize the card with your own brand and messaging. The Good Card also qualifies as a tax-deduction.

Check out our info page at http://networkforgoodpartner.blogspot.com/2007/11/buy-good-cards.html to learn more, or email the Good Card team at Network for Good at goodcard@networkforgood.org. They would be happy to send you some samples.

Because I don’t work in a large non-profit, and at the end of the day the buck stops with me, I don’t feel like I discuss topics that help large non-profits enough. Network for Good (one of my favorites) ran a great post last week about how to respond to objections when pitching social media to the executive level. I know that this is a topic that comes up quite frequently, not only for non-profits, but also for small businesses. Check out this extremely informative and helpful post. Thanks Network for Good!

Network for Good is a great resource for non-profits. I highly recommend checking their site out regularly for new info on how to improve fundraising efforts, online outreach and just plain good ideas. Social media can be somewhat hard to get your head around in terms of effective implementation and knowing what outlet will work for your organization. There is a lot of trial and error. Here is a great “toolkit” for vetting the waters of social media before diving in head first. Thanks Network for Good!!
