I’ve talked with several clients lately about how to better use their blogs to promote their businesses. The overall response is that they understand why they should be blogging, but finding the time is a challenge.
So, I wanted to share a great blog post that I read today from Freelance Switch called “Leveraging Your Blog to Promote Your Services.” This post by Martha Retallick shares creative insights on how to better promote your blog including, my favorite, sending a little note to folks you blog about letting them know about your post. I have always assumed that people who might be in my posts already monitor their names or brands. But, this point made me realize that may not always be the case. By simply sending them a quick email with a subject like “You have been blogged.” is not only very cordial but also is proactive in building a potential relationship with the recipient. Good stuff.
I agree that finding time to blog is difficult. It takes discipline, but when you begin to see the fruits of your labor it makes it totally worthwhile. Time Management & Building Blog Traffic covers off on a few ideas for making time for blogging. Since I wrote this post I’ve found that scheduling blog posts really helps. Unless there is something timely that I want to address on-the-fly, I try to write my daily blog posts on Sunday (while I watch football). Then I schedule them to post in the morning during the week. This is working out really well for me.
How do you manage your blogging time? What tips and tricks have been the most helpful?
