Thanks, David. I totally agree. Self-hosted WP is definitely the way to go. So much more control over your content and more ability to create dynamic functionality.

I totally agree with most of what you have said – WordPress is pretty incredible to say the least. I used to use XsitePro to create websites but it just seems so antiquated compared to WordPress.

I personally prefer the self hosted WordPress.org as I think you have more control and stand less chance of your blog disappearing – which can and does happen with free blogs. It only costs a few dollars a month so it’s well worth the piece of mind of having your own web space which you have full control of.

#2 is one of the biggest benefits of using WordPress for me. I am a newbie with very little experience in the blogging or design world. With WordPress everything is very simple and comes out looking professional. There is a plethora of plug-ins to choose from and there is an enormous user base with information and how-to’s on everything you could ever need to know about WordPress. I highly recommend it.
