Many thanks to everyone for giving me a week off. I needed to catch up on a few animal welfare projects and get grounded again. Feeling much better! Sometimes you just need to take a step back.
Speaking of animal welfare projects, GoodDogz.org is looking into fundraising ideas and one idea that came up was Facebook Causes. We have a Facebook Cause and it really just sits there not doing much. We are thinking about giving an official campaign a try – kind of a pilot program. I’ve heard varying responses to the effectiveness of Facebook as a fundraising tool. Care2 will tell you that its not worth the time, and I tend to believe that if you are a large organization. The resources to manage the campaign vs. the revenue just doesn’t jive. But, I’ve seen smaller, grassroots organizations who have much lower expectations do pretty well. Since we fall into the latter category, I’m thinking that its worth a go. Since I’ll manage the campaign, its my time to lose.
What I’d like to know is whether any of you have had success with Facebook for fundraising. What works? What tanked? How can we learn from you. I’ll post throughout the process so that you can learn from our mistakes (but hopefully successes).
We have many programs, so this week is dedicated to choosing a program or event to be supported by our campaign. Then stratgey – then tactics.
Please let me know what you think about Facebook. Worth the time? Worked amazingly well for you? Let’s talk.
