How to Promote Your Organization Like a Pro (For Not So Much Dough)
Posted on Nov 12, 2008 under General Social Media, Marketing |We work on a very tight marketing budget (which is essentially no budget at all) at GoodDogz.org so any PR tactics that we use we figure out on our own. Here are a few resources that we typically use as well as some handy hints from around the web.
- HARO (Help A Reporter Out) - Peter Shankman has created this dynamic service to help connect reporters with sources that compliment their stories. The requests come via digest email 3-4 times a day. I’ve found several pet related needs on this list as well as other interesting topics and have been featured in articles a couple of times. It’s a great, free way to get more exposure for your organization on potentially a national level. You can also follow Peter on Twitter for more urgent journalist needs.
- Do-It-Yourself PR Starter Kit - Great article from WomenEntrepreneuer.com with step-by-step instructions for kickstarting your PR machine.
- Free (ro almost free) Press Release Distribution - The following services allow you to send your press releases to popular publications for free (or for a small fee) - PRLeap.com and PRWeb.com. Mashable.com also has this list of free press release services.
- Massive Media Buzz - Jamila White offers this great download on creating a media buzz for your company or organization. It’s only $29 - it’s a steal!
