Let’s Hear It for Animal Shelters!

Care2 just launched a wonderful contest which invites folks to vote for their favorite animal shelter. In the wake of Katrina, Ike, the flooding in Des Moines, etc. animal shelters need our help more than ever. I really like this contest as it offers several ways to win – a grand prize of $10,000 – a daily prize of $1000 and $50 gift certificates to the top recruiters. Please remember to give to your local animal shelter as a way to give back to your community and have fun participating in this fun contest!

Unfortunately, my shelter where I got my best friend (who turns 15 tomorrow) is not eligible to be in the contest due to their sponsorship of the site that is running it. North Shore Animal League is a top place. My dog, My mothers dog, and 3 of my friends dogs all came from North Shore about 12-15 years ago. All but one of them is still alive and doing great.

North Shore goes through good checks to make sure their animals are going to proper homes as well. I felt like I was being “grilled” when I adopted “Nugget” but was glad to as I knew it was for their care of the animals.

Highly recommend them for anyone to go to.

Hey Anthony – North Shore Animal League is indeed top notch. Sometimes I feel like adopting a pet is more difficult than adopting a child, but in the long run, these rescues do have the best interest of their animals in mind. I’m so glad to hear that you had a great experience with rescue and that you come from a whole community of rescue peeps! Kudos to you!

I voted for Pet Rescue by Judy in Orlando. Jusy Sarullo has been saving animals in the central florida area for years and I think their organization would be quite deserving of a prize!
